Starting Wednesday, April 16th, the City of St. Catharines' underground parking garage at the Central Library will be closed to the public to reduce health and safety risks to Library staff, customers and community at large while protecting City property. The lot will be converted to parking for City and library staff. By redirecting City and library staff to this lot up to 40 coveted parking spots will be made available in popular lots including the Carlisle St. parking garage and the Market Square parking lot.
The Library will maintain two accessible parking spots in the underground garage. Library card holders with a valid Ontario Accessible Parking Permit can apply to access those spots on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, please visit our Accessibility page.
Additionally, parking will continue to be available in the City’s above ground lot at the Central Library as well as street parking in front of the library on James St and surrounding areas.
To all community members,
We are pleased to announce that the Merritt Branch, currently situated at 149 Hartzel Road, will be relocating to the Pen Centre at 221 Glendale Avenue.
After an extensive search for a new location, we are confident that the Niagara Pen Centre will offer a wonderful space for the community to continue enjoying their local library.
As we work together with the Pen Centre, the City, and our contractor to establish the new home for the Merritt Branch, we are dedicated to keeping our community informed. You can follow our progress on our project website here: https://www.myscpl.ca/merritt-updates.
Additionally, the library is investigating the possibility of hold pick up service in the Hartzel Road neighbourhood. We look forward to sharing more details with you shortly.
Sincerely,
Janice Coles
